A COMPETITION BAGPIPE BAND SOUTH OF BOSTON

Thank you very much for your interest in the Twin Lochs Region Pipes & Drums!

At this time, the band is strictly in the “adding personnel” phase, and not yet performing. As we are starting from scratch, it is expected it will take us from 1-3 years to have a band capable of competing at Grade 5 level. This is a favorable time frame for a brand new piper to achieve that level of proficiency.

We are not in the business of trying to recruit musicians from other bands, and are therefore seeking ANYONE with an interest in learning...even if they have never played. Naturally, experienced musicians are also welcome, but we stress that many of us will be learning for the first time together, so there is nothing to intimidate you if you are new.

To begin the learning process prospective bagpipers should pick up a practice chanter kit such as can be found HERE, and consider finding a tutor to help you get started. Although a good set of bagpipes can cost $1200 or more, do not be concerned about that for now. Beginners can spend anywhere from several months to a year or more learning on the practice chanter prior to being ready to move on to the actual Great Highland Bagpipe.

Although we have not yet begun to practice together, members can expect once per week practices once we have the personnel to warrant it.

At this time the Drum Corps of the band is not a concern. We have several interested folks, and will address further needs of the Corps as the piping section progresses.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information at info@twinlochs.org.

If you have the interest, join us in building this fun, unique organization!
